ACCESS THE WISDOM OF CHINESE MEDICINE
Chinese medicine recognizes five main causes of disease:

1. Structural
2. Energy or functional
3. Biochemical
4. Emotional
5. Spiritual

Imbalances of the energy or function of the body develop first sometimes long before an actual conventional diagnosis can be determined. In Chinese medicine health disorders can be detected at the initial stages of imbalance and serious complications can be prevented.

Chinese medicine includes eight main forms of therapy listed below:

  1. Acupuncture
  2. Chinese herbs
  3. Moxibustion or heat treatment with a herbal stick
  4. Chinese massage (Tui na)
  5. Dietary therapy
  6. Qigong exercises (chee gung)
  7. Life style and living environment (feng shui)
  8. Meditation

The basic premise of the Chinese art of healing is that diseases originate from imbalances between the Yang (active) and Yin (passive) energies within the body, which compromise the proper function of the internal organs. In Chinese medicine it is recognized that the body has the natural capacity to heal and restore balance if provided with the proper conditions.

When treating diseases, Chinese medicine utilizes a holistic approach based on a principle known as “the root and the branches”. The root is the underlying cause of your condition. The branches are the signs and symptoms. For instance, an imbalance in the energy or function of the liver can cause various symptoms like migraine headache, dizziness, depression, irritability, heartburn, acid reflux, abdominal bloating, irritable bowel disorders, colitis, hormonal imbalances, thyroid disorders, irregular menses, PMS, lumps in the breast, and uterine fibroids, among others. The root cause is the liver dysfunction and the symptoms are the branches. Correcting the root imbalance will resolve the branches or symptoms.
